Russell Bishop was convicted of the rape and attempted murder of a 7 year old girl who he attacked on 4 February 1990 in the Whitehawk area of Brighton and sentenced to a minimum term of 14 years.
He was also tried in 1990 but acquitted for the murders of Nicola Fellows 10 and Karen Hadaway 9 who were sexually assaulted and strangled in Wild Park, Brighton, in 1986. However, after new DNA evidence was found on a sweatshirt in 2018 he was tried for their murders again and convicted and sentenced to 36 years.
He died in prison on 20 January 2022.
