Keith Ward was convicted in 1990 for the murder of his partner Valerie Middleton as she sat in the bath. He beat her about the head with a blunt instrument killing her whilst on home leave from prison where he was serving a sentence for a previous assault on her.
When questioned he said that her death was part of a suicide pact and that he was going to electrocute himself.
In 1983 he was also convicted for the manslaughter of a woman that he was having an affair with who he strangled.
