George Naylor murdered Maureen Stepan 18, a prostitute addicted to both heroin and crack cocaine, who he strangled with her own tights on 9 June 1995. He had burnt her beforehand by stripping her naked and burning her with a lighted cigarette. There was cigarette ash in her mouth, vaginal opening and on her abdomen and injuries had been inflicted on her nipples.
George Naylor was 50 years old when he killed Maureen Stepan and 55 when sentenced.
In February 1976 the he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the rape and buggery of a 61 year old spinster whose house he burgled.
When he was released from that sentence on 22 October 1995, 8 weeks later in December 1985 killed Deborah Kershaw 22, a Bradford prostitute by manual strangulation. He was convicted of her manslaughter on 26 November 1986 and sentenced to life imprisonment, the sentence being reduced to 11 years imprisonment on appeal.
He had been free for approximately 2 years when he killed Maureen Stepan.
