Jimmy Johnson was convicted of murder in 1974 and later again in 1986.
In 1974 he murdered Keith Culmer. He was convicted o 22 July 1974 sentenced to life but after 9 years he was released on 5 March 1983
In 1986 he murdered Robin Harwood and was sentenced to a minimum or 30 years.
Jimmy Johnson had, for about a month, worked for the security company which employed Keith Culmer and whom he therefore knew. By chance Keith Culmer saw Jimmy Johnson and offered to drive him around while he completed his security tour. Johnson James, then unemployed and in debt, discovered that Keith Culmer had his weekly wages with him and those of another employee. He struck Keith Culmer two violent blows to the head, shattering his skull and killing him. The murder too was accordingly a killing for gain.
At the time of the murder Jimmy Johnson was a property repairer who went to the home of Robin Harwood ostensibly to do work for him. Within half an hour of his arrival the Jimmy Johnson had killed Robin Harwood in the bathroom by smashing his skull, striking about 6 blows to the back of his head with a lump hammer. Johnson James then took a number of documents belonging to Robin Harwood and using them obtained cheques to the value of about £2,000. Robin Harwood ultimately admitted killing Robin Harwood who, he said, had made a homosexual advance to him. However he now accepts that this was untrue. There is no doubt that the murder was committed with a view to gain.
