Waseem Afsar 32 and Nisar Khan 31 murdered Ahmed Bashir 21 in 1996.
Waseem Afsar was also convicted of the murder of Amarjit Sangha. On 12 March 1995 he attacked two men whilst playing pool, killing Amarjit Sangha. He was later arrested in 1996 and convicted in October 1997.
Waseem Afsar and Nisar Khan attacked Ahmed Bashir in 1996 with a scimitar stabbing him 43 times, mostly in the groin after he had been having an affair with Waseem Afsar's married sister.
At the time Waseem Afsar was arrested and put on an identity parade but a witness failed to pick him out.
However, later the murder of Ahmed Bashir was reaxamined in a cold case review and Waseem Afsar and Nisar Khan were tried and convicted for his murder.
Waseem Afsar was also convicted of the attempted murder of Ahmed Bashir's friend who was also attacked.
