Vikraman Pillai murdered Vijay Pillai in May 1994. However, he was not convicted until 1998 after his wife left him and went to the police to tell them what had happened.
Vikraman Pillai had shaken Vijay Pillai violently and rammed his head against a wall. The child was rushed to the hospital but died. They told the doctors that he had fallen down the stairs.
When his wife left him 3 years later taking their other child with her she broke her silence and went to the police.
On the evening of 27 May 1994 Vijay Pillai was crying. There was a friend who had come around to eat pizza at the time. Vikraman Pillai then shouted at the child to be quiet. When the child continued to cry he picked him up and shook him violently and then slammed his head into a wall. He then went limp. They took him to the hospital where he recieved brain surgery but he died on 31 May.
