Anthony Entwistle murdered Michelle Calvy 16.
He met her whilst she walked along a canal towpath then either raped her or had consensual sex and strangled her with her own t-shirt, dumping her body at a Tockholes beauty spot in April 1987. He killed her a 18 days after being released from a 7 year jail term for multiple rape.
Michelle Calvy had just had an argument at home and had gone out to walk by the canal where she met Anthony Entwistle. He said they had consensual sex in the back of his car and she had died accidently as he thought the t-shirt was around her face not her throat. The court said that he killed her during sex when she panicked.
The court heard that Anthony Entwistle had a long history of strangling girls during rape although none had died, and reffered to several of these.
